Thursday 11th June 2026 - A large and headstrong team endured constant drizzling rain at Anton Crescent Wetland for todays taskday.
Dividing the team almost equally, as one half of the squad set about pruning up walkways of protruding branches, clearing the steps of grass tussocks and clearing the haul-road of obstructing Bramble and unwanted Crack Willow the remaining team of surveyors battled against the rain and its effects on their paperwork sheets to get a quarter of the grassland condition assessments done.
Tuesday 9th June 2026 - A couple of showery outbreaks punctuated a near constant sun filled day for todays big team of volunteers as they worked at Carshalton Road Pastures.
As the phase 1 and 20 stops of grassland condition assessments got going over the sizeable site the rest of the squad set about selectively weeding out less desirable plant species, including regrowing remnants of Hawthorne and Blackthorn, from amid the meadow which was a sea of Ox-Eye Daisy!
Thursday 4th June 2026 - The same on/off showers hounded todays team of volunteers as they set about works on the London road meadow of Beddington Park.
With the squad dividing equally as one portion set to carrying out the areas phase 1 and 20 stops of the rapid grassland assessments the other half consolidated the sprawl of a couple of compost heaps, lopped out Bramble from between transitional zone tree-lines and finally weeded out undesired and swiftly spreading plant species from the meadow (after surveys had been completed!).
Tuesday 2nd June 2026 - It was a day of showers both heavy and fine for todays assembly of a team working at Perretts Field.
As bands of grey clouds parted away to blue sky multiple times overhead the team undertook phase 1 surveys to the whole site as well as the smaller SFI area as well as engaging in a spot of weeding of Docks and Thistles and pushing back of edges of Bramble to create more of a transitional zone to the tree line.
Thursday 28th May 2026 - The Sun was still beating down on todays team, unfortunately there was a tad less shade to shelter under as they toiled at Kimpton Balancing Pond and Buffer Strip.
Beginning survey season, as a couple of the team shook off the memory rust to complete the rapid grassland and phase 1 assessments the remaining squad completed a needed litter pick before diverting attention to weeding of undesirable species in the grassland and Bramble trimming around the scrub islands.
