Thursday 30th November 2023 - A picturesque frosting lay on all the greenery as a fair sized assembly of volunteers descended on Roundshaw Downs.
There was two missions for the team to get grips with as the chill started to dissipate as the morning wore on and the skies changed from a drab grey to a dull blue.
Having been rained of halfway through last visits work the majority of the team kicked off the action where that day finished, pushing back and scalloping Bramble from one of the footpaths that has frequent use.
As this was going on, on the more Northernly point of the boundary bund brushcutting was being undertaken in preparation of a day of Tree Whip planting (on the 9th of December) stretching along this feature.
Tuesday 28th November 2023 - It was a very slender turnout of a team for todays bright and mildly chilly activity at Carew Manor Wetland.
Working on both land and water, the small squadron managed to pull out a number of visible changes on site as each member set about a different task.
As a spot of pruning and branch reduction got underway on some of the sagging Willows, the stream channel got it's annual de-clogging of silty leaf litter and path blocking Reed and Typha to get the waters flowing once more and the brushcutter was unleashed on the slopping banks of vegetation before moving onto the scruffy looking island for a quick trim-up.
Thursday 23rd November 2023 - The Sun was shining in a marked contrast to the last couple of weeks as an eight strong force of volunteers descended into the Southern half of Roundshaw Woods.
With the favourable conditions letting light flow into the site, the team could easily see the progress moving along as they set about felling a number of densely packed trees, cutting and herbicide treating Cherry Laurel regrowth, Bramble bashing and putting the Tree Poppers through their paces removing self seeded Sycamore, Field and Norway Maple.
