Tuesday 28th November 2023 - It was a very slender turnout of a team for todays bright and mildly chilly activity at Carew Manor Wetland.
Working on both land and water, the small squadron managed to pull out a number of visible changes on site as each member set about a different task.
As a spot of pruning and branch reduction got underway on some of the sagging Willows, the stream channel got it's annual de-clogging of silty leaf litter and path blocking Reed and Typha to get the waters flowing once more and the brushcutter was unleashed on the slopping banks of vegetation before moving onto the scruffy looking island for a quick trim-up.
Thursday 23rd November 2023 - The Sun was shining in a marked contrast to the last couple of weeks as an eight strong force of volunteers descended into the Southern half of Roundshaw Woods.
With the favourable conditions letting light flow into the site, the team could easily see the progress moving along as they set about felling a number of densely packed trees, cutting and herbicide treating Cherry Laurel regrowth, Bramble bashing and putting the Tree Poppers through their paces removing self seeded Sycamore, Field and Norway Maple.
Tuesday 21st November 2023 - A strong turnout of volunteers and skies remaining 99% rain free, a myriad of tasks were able to be completed at Anton Crescent Wetland today.
With the team dividing up and taking to specific areas it didn't seem long before the trailer was bursting at the bolts holding vegetation both wet and dry.
As a solo brushcutter made some linear progress along half the length of the waters edge cutting back the Reeds, the remaining groups set about clearing straggling Bramble from North-Wests tree planted boundary, peeling back a margin of Ivy from the sides of the steps, felling of Crack Willow trees on the banks and with their newest team member donning waders for the first time, pulling of Typha that was clogging around the pond dipping platform.
