With the Christmas holidays approaching many people might be reflecting on what they have done this year. For some, now will be the time to set New Year resolutions.
Thursday 19th December 2024 - The week of works at Roundshaw Downs came to a conclusion with the help of a large turnout of volunteers.
With the main thrust of the day being the thermal disposal of the metres long span of gathered Blackthorn from the first two days of work. Team also set about honing the new clearing by rounding off remaining Bramble and dead hedging along the site boundary to leave some usable habitat for wildlife.
Tuesday 17th December 2024 - The traditional last week of the volunteers year was again upon the smaller team, Blackthorn scalloping at Roundshaw Downs.
Forming the second day of the trilogy after a good start by the Sunday taskdayers, todays harvesting of tired old Blackthorn really opened the narrow dirt path up for another couple of years and allowed access to the boundary line which got a good clearing up of fallen and broken tree limbs that had been inaccessible.
With some organised sorting and stacking of harvested brash Thursdays finale should be plain sailing!
Thursday 12th December 2024 - It was a dry but fairly overcast day for a well sized team of volunteers undertaking work at Roundshaw Woods.
With the chainsaw making rounds of the site to remove any hung up fallen trees the volunteers got to grips with outbreaks of Bramble that was narrowing walkways, climbing walls and weaving between the Hazel coppice and other assorted trees.
